Minneapolis Prisoner Support: Letters to Prisoners September 14th
In an increasingly repressive society, prisoner support is an essential aspect of an effective culture of resistance. It's an easy thing for people on the outside to send letters or books, and can provide valuable material and emotional aid. The state aims to isolate "criminal" individuals, and one way we can combat that is by communicating with is captives. Arise! Bookstore is one of many organizations in the Twin Cities geared at contributing to prisoner support. Outside of the autonomous group the "Women's Prison Book Project" that meets every Sunday from 11-3 PM at the bookstore, Arise! will also be serving as a place to come and write letters to prisoners, donate books, zines or postage.
There will be a Letters to Prisoners night every 2nd and 4th Monday from 6 to 8 PM to bring together friends thoughts to help support our comrades captured by the state. *Coffee, tea, and vegan delights will be provided*. If you can't make these letter writing nights, no worries, there is always the option of writing a letter to a prisoner on your own free time.
