FRIDAY: All "Wall 7" charges dismissed!
Friday morning, on the fourth day of trial, Ramsey County District Court Judge Michael Fetsch dismissed all charges against the "Wall 7," some of the first activists to go to trial in connection with the RNC. The seven activists from the Northeast were facing 4 trumped-up misdemeanor charges after being penned in with about 30 others by a Mobile Field Force and SPPD bicycle unit at 6th and Wall Streets on September 1, 2008.

The trial began on Tuesday; this morning the defense made a motion to dismiss all charges due to the prosecution's lack of evidence connecting specific people to specific actions. After reviewing the charges one by one, the judge agreed and the case was dismissed before the defense needed to present any of its half dozen witnesses.
Previous days in the trial saw the City of St. Paul attorney try to connect actions by a group at 9th and Wacouta on September 1st to the arrests at 6th and Wall, but police testimony was spotty, and testimony as to the number of people at each intersection varied from 10 to 40. The prosecutor also brought two witnesses who were stopped in a car by the 9th and Wacouta soft blockade, who testified that one protester pounded on the hood of their car but that it was not one of the defendants.

After the dismissal of the charges the 7 and supporters marched through downtown back to collect bail money, chanting, "The prosecuties' pissed; our charges are dismissed!!!" Passersby smiled and laughed.
Of course they smiled and

Charges dropped due to lack of evidence should be immediately expunged from the public record. I doubt thats the case however

If you find it insulting to be described as "stinking", why not, um, take a bath once in a while?
I was smiling too. You know
I was smiling too. You know why? Well, because the charges against me were just dismissed. Seeing that you were there, I find it strange you think that suits, ties, sweaters and vests are unkempt.
Oh yeah, and when I told people why I was happy, they gave this unkempt, stinking idiot a high five...and in one case, five free shooters of vodka.
Thanks for your comment though, enjoy going to that job you hate.
Hope it lasts.

Congrats, by the way! :)
Congrats, by the way! :)
Victory! Fight your charges too!
After a week of prosecution and hours and hours of cop testimony, the judge dismissed all 4 misdemenor charges against the Wall 7. The defendents were arrested with about 30 other people on the first day of the Republican National Convention, at the intersection of 6th Street and Wall Street.
This is the first RNC related case to go to trial and a major victory for people fighting their bogus charges. It proved that you can fight the state, fight your charges, and win.
Major kudos to Coldsnap, CRASS, Jordan Kuchner, Ken Tilson and the many wonderful courtwatchers and supporters who helped win this case.
More info coming later tonight!
That's Great!
It was a pleasure to help these great, friendly young people that came back for their trial.
Continue to fight on with your beliefs and know that people from other parts of the country are with you!
In solidarity!!
