Somali people, GLBT community, African-Americans, Muslim people, Greens, Hmong people,disabled people, Jewish activists....an all-too-rare coalition of many different people in our community is coming together to preserve the Minneapolis Civil Rights Department. Civil Rights Community Social: A Discussion on How to Save the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, @SABATHANI CENTER, EAST 38th ST. and THIRD AVE. SOUTH, ROOM D1,D2 Minneapolis.
Earlier this year, Mayor Rybak proposed to cut the Complaint Investigation Unit of the City of Minneapolis Civil Rights Department. This unit investigates and processes complaints of discrimination which take place in Minneapolis. The Civil Rights Department uses approximately 1% of the entire city budget.
Join us for a lively discussion on how to save the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights The event will include poetry, ice-cream, short speeches, a community discussion, and an action plan on how to save the department.
