Susan Gaertner–the prosecutor with the power to drop the charges on the RNC 8–must be betting on out-state support to save her struggling campaign for Governor.

Who Is Concerned With the Majority?

Every election is about the majority of voters deciding which candidate speaks most closely to their concerns. The last couple of election cycles have been about more than people choosing between the lesser of two evils or apathetic voting. There was a genuine feeling of anger underlying the voting and there should have been. People came out in record numbers to demand government once again spoke for the people who put them in office.

Not "Fascism or Obama": Fascism and Obama

NOT "FASCISM OR DEMOCRACY": FASCISM AND DEMOCRACY

According to current left-wing wisdom, fascism is raw state power and brutal capital unmasked, so the only way to do away with fascism is to get rid of capitalism altogether.

So far, so good. Unfortunately, the analysis usually turns round on itself: since fascism is capitalism at its worst, we ought to prevent it from actually producing its worst, i.e. we ought to fight for a "normal", non-fascist capitalism, and even rally non-fascist capitalists.

86 Reasons To Vote Against McCain and Bush Sidekick Coleman

Forget that McCain has 13 cars and 10 homes (MO)

86 Reasons To defeat the McCain Campaign

McCain wants more Americans added to the 5000 who have
died in the hot sands of Iraq and on the freezing peaks in Afghanistan,
mostly men who have been blinded, blown apart or burned, while 100,000
have been wounded. Countless millions of Iraqis are dead, while 4 million
are refugees. The British commander in Afghanistan says that war is unwinnable.
While McCain claims to be a careful spender, he has spent your money
by the trillions on bombs which burn Baghdad babies

Fascistic New Normal in St. Paul

Reporter’s Notebook from the RNC
Fascistic New Normal in St. Paul

by Alice Woodward

The world could be radically different and its time we start talking about real change

“The world could be radically different and it’s time we start talking about real change”

by Sunsara Taylor

Sunday, August 24, at the Cleo Parker Robinson Theater in Denver, 300 people gathered to hear speeches by prominent representatives of the movements against the war, repression, and torture of the Bush regime. The following is an edited transcript of a talk given by Sunsara Taylor at this Evening of Conscience.

"John McCain has voted with George Bush 90 percent of the time."

This charge, a centerpiece of Obama's acceptance speech last night, was quite probably true.

But it was also a stunning piece of hypocrisy coming from the Democratic nominee who has himself voted for almost every single George Bush war funding bill since becoming a U.S. senator.

And Obama has outdone W on several points besides:

** Advocating bombing Iran
** Proposing to invade Pakistan
** Advocating a troop surge in Afghanistan
** Advocating a larger standing army
